Treatment of Bulimia Nervosa
Bulimia nervosa is similar to Anorexia nervosa in the sense that they both manipulate the way we look at food and our body. However, while Anorexic individuals tend to eat little to no food, people who suffer from Bulimia binge eat large amounts of food with a loss of control over their appetite and then attempt to reverse their intake through unhealthy behaviours. For instance, they might take laxatives or force themselves to vomit as an attempt to avoid weight gain.
People who suffer from Bulimia become obsessed with their weight and body shape and are very critical of their physical flaws. Asides from being a food consumption issue, Bulimia has a lot to do with self-image and self-criticism. Both males and females are susceptible to Bulimia, yet females are more vulnerable to it due to society's judgmental views and unrealistic expectations for females around the world. The consequences of Bulimia are dire on physical and psychological health. They disrupt one's social life and weaken their overall physical abilities and functions.
